Mrs. Bell's Cabbage-Beef Delight


 

What You'll Need:

  • Large sauce pan



Ingredients:

  • Olive oil (about 3 Tablespoonfuls)

  • 1 - 14 ounce shredded cabbage

  • 1 pound ground beef, turkey, OR chicken

  • 1 large onion (diced)

  • ½ small diced red and green pepper *(optional)

  • 5 large garlic cloves (finely chopped)

  • 1 Tablespoonful fresh ginger (chopped)

  • 2 Tablespoonfuls Worchester sauce

  • 2 teaspoonfuls apple cider vinegar

  • 1+1/2 teaspoonfuls sesame seed oil

  • 1 cup chicken, turkey OR beef stock (divided 1/3 cup and 2/3 cup)

  • 3 Tablespoonfuls soy sauce (I used reduced sodium)

  • 1 Tablespoonful brown sugar (optional)



Instructions:

  1. Pour oil into a large pan over medium heat

  2. Carefully place meat in the pan, along with onions, peppers; after about 6 minutes add the garlic and ginger and continue stirring until meat is fully cooked through (drain the oil)

  3. Reduce heat to low and stir in the cabbage, and 1/3 cup of chicken or beef stock (allow the cabbage to wilt down, about 6 minutes or so)

  4. Add the sesame seed oil, apple cider vinegar, Worchester sauce, soy sauce, the remaining chicken stock (a little bit at a time) and brown sugar then allow simmering for a few minutes until veggies are tender

  5. Once veggies are cooked to your liking, remove from heat, serve, and enjoy!

  6. Check for flavor (I used low sodium which may affect the taste; check for desired saltiness.
